Homework
Homework supports pupils to make the link between what they have learnt in school and the wider world. Children should be able to complete their homework independently and it’s most effective when done in a supportive, secure environment, with focused time set aside for the activities.
Homework is reasonable in challenge and length, and its purpose will be clearly outlined alongside each task. Homework at Tatsfield takes the form of:
- Home reading every day
- Phonics or spelling (CUSP) activities
- Mathematics and times tables activities
- English activities
- Other activities, including opportunities for children to reflect on their learning (such as research/fact finding linked to class topics; keeping a diary; a project)
Any necessary equipment or resources can be provided, loaned or made accessible and parents can speak to their child’s class teacher if they need any support with homework.
